The Small things that go unnoticed, the Huge things that are too big to be noticed and God...

A picture that I recently found on a friends page, caught my interest. And this post originated while I was trying to pick up conversation with her, wondering what was the message that the post implied.Given below is the message along with the image, followed by what I wanted to clarify.

Galatians 6:7
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. WHO mocked God : Proverbs 17:5
Whoever mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker; whoever gloats over disaster will not go unpunished.

John Lennon (Singer):
Some years before, during his interview with an American Magazine, he said:
'Christianity will end, it will disappear.
I do not have to argue about that.. I am certain.
Jesus was ok, but his subjects were too simple, today we are more famous than Him' (1966).
Lennon, after saying that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ, was shot six times.

Tancredo Neves (President of Brazil ):
During the Presidential campaign,he said if he got 500,000 votes from his party, not even God would remove him from Presidency.
Sure he got the votes, but he got sick a day before being made President, then he died.

Cazuza (Bi-sexual Brazilian composer, singer and poet):
During A show in Canecio ( Rio deJaneiro ),
while smoking his cigarette, he puffed out some smoke into the air and said:'God, that's for you.'
He died at the age of 32 of LUNG CANCER in a horrible manner.

The man who built the Titanic
After the construction of Titanic, a reporter asked him how safe the Titanic would be. With an ironic tone he said:
'Not even God can sink it'
The result: I think you all know what happened to the Titanic

Marilyn Monroe (Actress)
She was visited by Billy Graham during a presentation of a show. He said the Spirit of God had sent him to preach to her. After hearing what the Preacher had to say, she said:
'I don't need your Jesus'.
A week later, she was found dead in her apartment

Bon Scott (Singer)
The ex-vocalist of the AC/DC. On one of his 1979 songs he sang: 'Don't stop me; I'm going down all the way, down the highway to hell'.
On the 19th of February 1980, Bon Scott was found dead, he had been choked by his own vomit.

Campinas (IN 2005)
In Campinas , Brazil a group of friends, drunk, went to pick up a friend.....
The mother accompanied her to the car and was so worried about the drunkenness of her friends and she said to the daughter holding her hand, who was already seated in the car: My Daughter, Go With God And May He Protect You.'
She responded: 'Only If He (God) Travels In The Trunk, Cause Inside Here.....It's Already Full '
Hours later, news came by that they had been involved in a fatal accident, everyone had died,
the car could not be recognized what type of car it had been, but surprisingly, the trunk was intact.
The police said there was no way the trunk could have remained intact. To their surprise, inside the trunk was a crate of eggs, none was broken

Christine Hewitt (Jamaican Journalist and entertainer) said the Bible (Word of God) was the worst book ever written.
In June 2006 she was found burnt beyond recognition in her motor vehicle.

Many more important people have forgotten that there is no other name that was given so much authority as the name of Jesus.
Many have died, but only Jesus died and rose again, and he is still alive....
'Jesus'
PS: If it was a joke, you would have sent it to everyone. So are you going to have courage to share this?.
I have done my part in sharing.

Do you believe that Jesus is Holy and His name should be Glorified and not Mocked?
If you believe in him, Click write Amen!

I did type in an Amen. Why? I do respect him and believe too.
But what was the post trying to convey? If u do mock or insult him, he punishes you?
And by 'him' I mean GOD, not a God identified by his name. I'm kinda associating Christ as a God, or a God Figure. And so I'm not intending to insult or question any specific form of Faith and belief. Nope. Not at all. But I'm merely asking, about the message this post seems to be sending.
Like shouldn't it be-' Do not mock or Insult him cos you love him, believe in him, he's your Lord, the all forgiving Father who protects you and forgives you your sin? ', instead of it being ' Do not mock him, cos if you do, you'l be punished. So be careful not to Insult him.'

A few years back, we had these flyers and stuff coming around, Of Lord Shiva, or Christ, or Allah. And they did the same thing, publicize themselves into more hands, by putting up a story on how someone who defied or insulted the Lord ended up dying. So if you care for yourself, re print or redistribute the message and let it reach more hands. That way, God is pleased with you and rewards you.

I mean sometimes they seem like scare tactics, to exploit the human vulnerability related to the unknown or the essentially known. Do we really need all this to proclaim our faith, is my question.
Like shouldn't we be more connected to God on friendlier terms, rather than on fear? Cos I remember these flyers did disturb me as a kid. And erm, I did secretly drop one or two of them where I was sure people would see it. All these even when I knew that God wouldn't do such an awful thing, if I accidentally wronged him.

We've had a season of email pranks, or email doze of human fear sales. There have been mails that told stories of people who ignored a mail and din't forward it before midnight and as a result, got murdered or killed or, hold on, I don't even want to go on...Curiosity killed no cat at my place. After first trembling with fear, I used to forward it removing the Post Script that mentioned- '' Forward this mail to 15 of your friends else get killed.'' Later I learnt to totally ignore these mails.

Yet another form of posts that still haunts Facebook- ''If you love your Mother, re-post this'', ''If you love your Father, share this'', ''...your brother, comment..'' How does posting a random picture someone else compiled on your page make you love your mom? Of course you are indirectly expressing it and sending a message to your loved ones. Sharing it proclaims to the world that you love them. Well, what have I got to say on this? Your parents, your profile, your life, you'll do what you want. Proclaim your love- so be it. Yet, nobody cares how you treat em (your parents, of course) within your home. And sometimes I've got a photo of some random guy who finally managed to get a narrowly-shaky-but-almost-there photo, (the best part's yet to come) with a tagline or a water mark- ''If you love your mother share''. Oh for all the horrors of it, I'm so sure my mother would not have wanted me to share that...

Which reminds me that I've meandered away from my topic- The fear of God. We need fear to keep our grayer sides in check- I couldn't agree more. And there's no institution unlike religion that can perhaps have a better moral impact on us. But fear should be of wrong doing and not of the 'God'. You express your views on the most sacred, patient and comforting institutions of all times- religion, by perhaps using a bit of your heart and not terrorizing people. I believe, when we speak of the Lord as the ever loving. all forgiving and ever understanding ray of hope and love, it is demeaning for us to instill fear in our fellow beings in Gods name.We are speaking at a time where wars have been waged in his name- And all those who caused it, or were part of it, better be dead by now. Ironically not all of them are dead I suppose.

Perhaps the God punishes you not for what you did to him, but for what you did to one among you. When God said, 'Whoever mocks the poor shows contempt for their maker; whoever gloats over disaster will not go unpunished', he meant- Be good to one another, and thereby good to him too.

The kid inside me is still scared reading that post. Perhaps, though I haven't in anyway tried to insult him, what if this is deemed to be so? I certainly don't want to be scared of God in such a way. I want to be friends with him. For me religion should be synonymous to hope, a hope of a better tomorrow, the flag ship of the glorious past, the explanation to all the unanswered questions around, and not a heralder of fear. Religion is freedom and religion should be liberating.

Time and again people ask me about my religious stand- Agnostic? Gnostic? Atheist? Theist? Do I have to confirm myself into a group, under a label? Do I believe in your God? I do.. Do I believe in mine? I do. But like you do? Nope... I believe in God, in my own very little ways, which neither do I have the ability, or inclination now to explain. I do not mess with your faith, nor do I question it. I believe in a religion that believes in humanity, a religion where the God can be awakened from with in, irrespective of a name or a language, of community or ethnicity, of gender or of race, of temple or of church....I believe in a God whose presence I can feel, when I seek, without fear, irrespective of whether I'm within a church or a mosque. I believe in the God who is the reason for not having and not wanting a reason.

And God continues to live within, in all the Small things that go unnoticed and all the Huge things that are too big to be noticed.
